Jenny was our initial inspiration to start PICCPals. She was the cheekiest lady with an absolutely wicked sense of humour. After finding herself, in the second national lockdown of 2020, going through a fairly brutal regime of chemo and breast cancer treatment, her friend Nikki (our Chair) made her some purple PICCline sleeves as a way of letting her know that her friends were thinking of her. These helped Jenny feel loved and understood at a time when she was physically and mentally isolated.
Jenny remains our inspiration to this day. We remember her birthday every year, her daughter Lucy supports PICCPals whenever she can, keeping her legacy going. We talk about Jenny all the time at any public speaking event and she puts a bit of fire in our bellies whenever we think of her.
In a wonderful stroke of synergy our collaboration with Hearts of Hope will see PICCPals distributing unique hearts that are purple, not only Jenny’s favourite colour, but also the colour that represents healing.
